2012 Olympic Games Report: Women’s Hammer
- Publication: London Olympic Games Reports 2012
- Year: 2012
This comprehensive report produced by Malcolm Fenton with the assistance of Emily Parker has been taken from the London 2012 Olympic Games report.
The report provides a wealth of women’s hammer throw statistics and individual analysis of foot positions for the twelve finalists.
The Hammer for women was introduced into the Olympics at the Sydney Games of 2000. In the twelve years since, the event has progressed at such a rate that the winning throw then, would have come but eleventh in London, and was nearly two meters less than the automatic qualifying distance for this year’s final.
