Welcome to the England Athletics endurance newsletter. With the World Track and Field Championships well underway in Beijing it may seem odd to be talking about the winter season. But it is approaching fast and we all need to consider the transition from track running to crosscountry and or roads. As the track races ease down, coaches and athletes should be looking forward several months to what is available and when.

Plan, prepare and compete.

The next major championship event for England Athletics are the Commonwealth Games to be held in Australia between 4th and 15th April 2018. That may seem a long way away (its only around 950 days to go…) but once next year is over you will only have 2017 to register performances to be considered for selection. Note the dates as the championships are in our winter time so preparation will be vital. Now could be the time to think about your event and how you have been progressing over the last few years.

Have you been improving?

Finishing in the top few in trial events?

Making teams?

Getting to championships?

Are you in the right event????

Maybe its time to think about something different and try another event. The Gold Coast of Australia beckons so make sure you are prepared and give yourself every opportunity to make the England team.
