Dan Pfaff Masterclass: Sprinting & Youth Development

Welsh Athletics is delighted to be able to offer coaches three excellent coach development sessions in February.

One of the leading coaches in the World, Dan Pfaff is basing his European training camp in Cardiff during February. Within this stay Welsh Athletics are honoured to be able to host one open coaching session and two lectures from Dan.

Dan Pfaff has an extensive coaching resume and is renowned as one of the leading coaches, particularly within all speed / power events in athletics. Dan has coached more than 33 Olympians, including Canadians Donovan Bailey (former World Record holder and 1996 Olympic Gold Medallist) and Bruny Surin (1999 World Silver Medallist).

Closer to home and more recently Dan guided Welsh athlete Rhys Williams to European 400m Hurdles Gold in 2012, followed by Greg Rutherford, who achieved Olympic Long Jump gold, Goldie Sayers to a British Javelin record and Jonnie Peacock to Paralympic Gold in the 100m, a unique set of results illustrating Dan’s depth and breadth of coaching knowledge.

Monday 18th February NIAC, Cardiff

Open coaching session

Welsh Athletics’ invites coaches to attend and observe Dan as he coaches UK based pole-vaulters Holly Bleasdale and Steve Lewis. The session will primarily be a running based session with athletes in the middle of an indoor competitive phase of training.

Coaches to arrive from 10:00am. 

This session will commence at about 10:30am and will conclude at about 12:30pm

Monday 18th February NIAC, Cardiff

Seminar with Dan Pfaff 19:30 – 21:15 

“Key focuses for coaches working with young developing athletes (13 – 18 years old)”

Lead lecture by Dan Pfaff with related question and answer session to conclude the evening.
