Welsh National Coaching Conference 2015

The Welsh National Coaching Conference 2015 will take place on Sunday 22 March 2015 at the Village Hotel, Swansea.

The theme for 2015 is ‘Planning for the Long Term’; this builds on the successful conferences in 2012 and 2013 which were attended by over 80 coaches. The purpose of our Coaching Conferences has been to provide interesting and thought provoking presentations / concepts and to both support coaches and ultimately maximise the potential of all athletes across Wales.

We are delighted to announce that we have been able to invite a number of highly respected and influential speakers:

Neil Black - British Athletics Performance Director

Neil will talk about the journey from ‘Good to Great’, drawing upon his success overseeing the delivery of the World Class Performance Plan (Olympic and Paralympic) through setting the culture, creating the environment and working with people to deliver success.

John Kiely - Senior Lecturer in Elite Performance at the Institute of Coaching and Performance, University of Central Lancashire

Fresh from his work with the Scottish Rugby Union, John will deliver a keynote presentation on Athlete Coordination, Health, Physical Literacy and Robustness. John has also agreed to deliver a workshop on the ‘Role of Stress in Health and Performance’.

Scott Simpson – Head of Coaching and Performance, Welsh Athletics

As we enter a new cycle for Welsh Athletics, Scott will outline his vision for the 2015 – 2019 Cycle, including his thoughts on the build up to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.

Rhodri Lloyd - Senior Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning and the Programme Director for BSc Sports Conditioning, Cardiff Met

Rhodri has a special interest in youth development and will talk about the benefits of Strength and Conditioning for youths.
