As a qualified Athletics Coach, if you wish to coach Triple Jump, Pole Vault, Discus, Hammer or Wheelchair Racing you are required to complete an additional short online module. Each module includes video and written material and ends with a multiple-choice test carrying a 75% pass mark.
Triple Jump, Wheelchair Racing and Race Walking modules - once the module has been completed and the multiple choice questions successfully answered candidates will receive an updated coaching license to reflect the additional module. Candidates that have completed these since 6th January 2014 will now have their amended coaching licenses released.
Pole Vault, Hammer and Discus modules – due to the increase in health and safety risks to both athletes and coaches in the coaching of these disciplines, in addition to completing the online component candidates will also have to complete a short practical assessment in these areas before this event is added to their coaching license. It will now be compulsory that all candidates enrolling on these courses will have to complete a practical assessment. Assessments can be arranged through the relevant Home Country and will run in conjunction with cell/pod and coach development activity.

The Event Group Coach award has been designed to provide licensed Athletics Coaches with a greater understanding of the issues involved in coaching athletes at the Event Group Development stage of the athlete development model (typically 15-19 years). Coaches will develop their technical knowledge and expertise across the individual events that make up event areas. There are currently four event group areas available; Sprints and Hurdles, Jumps, Throws and Endurance. The Combined Events Module is coming soon.
The Event Group Coach Award is made up of two component parts, an online learning component and a single integration day. Candidates embarking on this course must do so in the knowledge that the online learning component requires a significant time commitment.
