Anatoliy Bondarchuk: Heavy Throws - Q&A (Part 1)

Dr Anatoliy Bondarchuk presents an informal discussion from Loughborough University which covers topics such as how the soviet system changed through the 50s 60s and 70s, some of the research he did during this time and how this has helped him develop his system of training for the heavy throws. Some of the principles of his system are touched upon and how nutrition and supplementation is approached.

Dr Anatoliy Bondarchuk was a highly successful athlete as 1972 Olympic Champion, multiple European Championships and a former world record holder. Despite this track record he is perhaps better known for his coaching pedigree. He developed the USSR National Team throws program from 1976 to 1992, he has coached athletes to medals at 5 Olympic games including coaching current World Record holder and two time Olympic champion in the hammer Yuri Sedych. Dr Bondarchuk currently works and coaches in Canada and counts Canadian record holders Dylan Armstrong and Sultana Frizell among his athletes. His influence goes further than just his coaching, coaches implementing his system has led to the success of 2008 Olympic Champion Primoz Kozmus and even our UK womens record holder Sophie Hitchon amongst many others.
