UKA Coach Building A Better Coaching Environment

Vitaliy Petrov on Running Drills For Pole Vault

In this video world renowned coach Vitaliy Petrov discusses with a masterclass audience of UK athletes and coaches the importance of running drills to the Pole Vault.

Vitaliy Petrov can rightly claim to have had a hand in both the men's and women's world records having coached both Sergey Bubka for the majority of his career and Yelena Isinbayeva when she set the women's world record of 5.06m. Having worked in the Soviet Union until it's collapse Petrov moved to Italy to oversee their pole vault programme in 1990; a situation that led to Italy becoming incredibly successful at the event. Having also worked with Australian, Brazilian, Argentinian and Mexican coaches amongst many others Petrov is seen as one of the greatest athletics coaches of all time and the grandfather of modern Pole Vault coaching. This presentation at an England Athletics Masterclass in 2011 is the first time Petrov has spoken in front of a UK audience since 1985.
